When an employee is experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, autism, ADHD, PTSD, long COVID, chronic fatigue or work-related stress, managers often feel unsure what to do next.
Serenity Occupational Therapy provides independent, evidence-based occupational therapy that bridges the gap between Occupational Health, HR, managers and the employee.
Our aim is simple:

When you should consider a referral
Employers, OH or HR should consider a referral for an employee when:

repeated or prolonged absence
-
unsuccessful previous return-to-work attempts
-
multiple interacting health/work barriers

neurodivergence combined with mental health difficulties

burnout with significant functional deterioration
-
conflicting recommendations
-
adjustments that have not worked

strained employee/manager relationships

cases where HR/OH know what the problem is but the employee needs hands-on rehabilitation to progress

What Happens Once You Refer?
Step 1 - Referral
The employer, HR, OH professional, case manager or insurer provides the referral question and relevant information.
Step 2 - Consent and Information Gathering
The employee is informed about the purpose of the assessment and appropriate consent is obtained.
Step 3 - Occupational Therapy Assessment
We assess the employee's functional abilities in relation to their work demands.
Step 4 - Report and Recommendations
A clear report responds to the referral questions and provides practical recommendations.
Step 5 - Review or Intervention where required
Further occupational therapy support can be arranged when assessment alone is unlikely to be sufficient.
Why Serenity Occupational Therapy
Serenity Occupational Therapy complements Occupational Health and HR input by providing hands-on occupational rehabilitation, working directly with employees to address the functional impact of mental health, neurodivergence, fatigue and long-term health conditions on work performance.
We assess how the employee functions within the demands of their role and provide practical rehabilitation strategies that can support sustainable work participation.
Our reports are written to address the agreed referral questions and focus on functional ability, occupational demands, barriers, strengths and practical recommendations. Where appropriate and with consent, we can liaise with HR, managers, Occupational Health, case managers and other professionals involved in the employee's support.
