“Right Support, Right Time: Unlocking the Power of OT”

Every year in early November, occupational therapists across the UK come together to raise awareness of the vital role OT plays in people’s lives. OT Week 2025, taking place from 3 to 9 November, is no different — and this year’s theme is especially meaningful: prevention and early intervention.

Why This Year’s Theme Matters

The campaign “Right Support, Right Time” focuses on how occupational therapy can help people stay well for longer by stepping in early — before challenges escalate into crises. In healthcare, education, and social care, early OT involvement can reduce burden on emergency services, limit hospital readmissions, and improve overall outcomes.

At Serenity Occupational Therapy, this message resonates deeply. Many of the challenges our clients face — such as anxiety, burnout, executive dysfunction, ADHD, autism, or return-to-work issues — can be better managed (or prevented) when support is offered earlier.

How OT Makes a Difference in Mental Health

During OT Week, we want to emphasise some of the ways occupational therapy is particularly valuable for mental health and daily wellbeing:

  • Building structure & routine to reduce overwhelm

  • Sensory regulation & environment adaptations to support focus and emotional stability

  • Skill development in time management, planning, and organisation

  • Coping strategies, resilience training, and pacing to reduce burnout

  • Support with transitions & return-to-work planning

  • Preventing escalation into crisis through early support

By integrating OT earlier in the trajectory of mental health challenges, we can help individuals maintain function, retain agency, and reduce the severity of setbacks.

How You Can Take Part

We invite you to join us in celebrating OT Week and spreading awareness of the role of occupational therapy:

  1. Share Our Content — Repost blog articles, quotes, or tips from our social media.

  2. Tell Your OT Story — If you’ve experienced occupational therapy support, share (even briefly) how it helped you.

  3. Start Conversations — Talk with friends, family, or colleagues about what OT is and why it matters.

  4. Reach Out — If you or someone you know could benefit from OT support, get in touch with us during OT Week and beyond.

OT Week is more than just an awareness campaign — it’s a chance to showcase how occupational therapy contributes to a healthier, more resilient community when it’s provided at the right time. We look forward to playing our part this year and hope you’ll come along with us.
